Earth Day
April 20 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
April 20, 2024 Earth Day activities will take place at Sarg Hubbard Park, 111 S. 18th Street, Yakima, Washington 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event will run concurrently with Kids’ Fish Day which is a very popular activity. The CWBA will have a booth at the Earth Day festivities to answer people’s questions about the importance of bees and what we can do as individuals to promote a healthy environment for bees. More details can be found online at the ArborFest Yakima website and at the Earth Day Yakima website. Volunteer to help out!
We are just 4 days away from what is shaping up to be a very large, fun-filled, and exciting event. There will be more than 50 booths, tables, exhibits, food vendors, electric vehicles, art exhibit, and activities for all ages.
With so many participants trying to set up at the same time, we will work to make the set-up go as smoothly as possible. Construction of a pollinator garden means not all booths/tables will be in the lower section of the park. Many booths will be placed around the circle at the top of the main road – see attached map.
SET-UP
7:30 – 9:00 AM Please enter Sarg Hubbard Park via the main road. You will be given your assigned location and directed to either the lower or upper area of the park. Volunteers will be available to assist with set-up, but please be patient because we have few volunteers. Once you have unloaded your vehicle, we ask that you move it to a parking lot outside of the park – parking is marked on the map. Please leave parking spaces closer to the park for people attending both events. The gate at the entrance will be closed at 9 AM. It will be opened to allow for food vendors (later set up) to enter and vehicles to exit.
PACKING UP
3:00 PM This could turn into a “free-for-all” but if we allow the large exhibitors (Bookmobile, EVs, Pacific Steel truck) to exit first, this will free up spaces to park for loading your vehicles. Again, we will have volunteers available to help make your exit as smooth as possible.
AND
Please remember that Earth Day Yakima is a volunteer effort that seeks to increase community awareness of environmental issues by engaging citizens of all ages in supporting sustainable initiatives and honoring the Earth’s resources, not only on the day of global celebration but all year long.
FINALLY
LET’S HAVE SOME FUN!
